Painting Imitation

27 Nov

This is my attempt to mimic Krista Smith’s great piece Fresh Laundry. (Here’s a link to it: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/fresh-laundry-krista-smith.html)

My replication campaign was plagued from its humble beginnings thirty minutes ago with bad luck, most prominently the stark lack of a feline in my household. In the cat’s place, I substituted a chubby Australian Shepherd, giving the photo a musty and down-home atmosphere.

But despite all adversity, look at me now. A scrawny little teen with a few pictures of a dog on laundry. The world is my oyster.

Here’s what I consider to be the better ones:

And here are the rest of the takes in a neat little package:

Here is the second, and more entertaining in my opinion, episode of Criken’s Dead Island gameplay and commentary.

Here’s another one of Criken’s hilarious playthroughs.

Here’s a YouTube vid by Takuux, a gamer who makes videos a lot like Criken. He should definitely get more attention than he does now (this video has around 350 views); every one of his videos makes me laugh.

Crysis 3

26 Apr

Prepare yourself folks, Crysis 3 is coming out. And it’s looking better than ever. I’ve played through Crysis 1-2, and I gotta say this looks amazing. It’s scheduled for release in 2013, so we got a wait on our hands. But from what I’ve seen, it’s going to be worth it.

Crysis 3 will just continue the story left off at the end of 2, with New York becoming a jungle and all that, and it’ll be interesting to see the gameplay reverting from city back to the jungle of the first game.

I will be eagerly awaiting the release of this game with high hopes. Let’s see if Crytek can deliver.

Here’s the Official Announce Gameplay Trailer:

Dishonored

20 Apr

There’s a new Bethesda game coming out sometime in 2012 (There’s no official release date as of now) for Ps3, Xbox 360, and PC called ‘Dishonored.’ From what I’ve seen, it’s an FPS in which you, “Corvo,” are an assassin who is a fine swordsman, master-at-arms, and cunning infiltrator, as well as a possessor of supernatural powers. It seems very similar to Assassin’s Creed, with an open world format, swords, daggers, and guns; but presented in a Victorian, industrializing England. In addition, your supernatural powers include the ability to freeze time for a certain period, and possess any living creature.

As far as the plot goes, Corvo was once a guard for the Empress, and now wants revenge against a Lord Regent who framed him for the Empress’ assassination. That’s all I know right now, but I’ll try to keep you guys posted.

All in all, from the trailer and what I’ve read on the website, this seems like a very interesting game, even if it does feel a lot like Assassin’s Creed. I’m definitely going to be following this game to the release.

Here’s the official debut trailer:
